If my left leg was a car...

...I'd have to take it to the wrecking yard. Ran again this week, because my achilles had improved. But three 30 minute runs later and I've got pains in my ankle, foot and both sides of my knee - all on the left side.

Gordon, it has been a little while since I caught up on your blog. Sorry to hear about your Achilles and troubles with your left leg in general. I am off the road as well, could be quite an extended period as well. So far a couple of months and counting. Achilles. I think you have to take a long-term view and accept that the most likely couse to any kind of sustained recovery will be appropriate strengthening exercises. What is "appropriate" is the tricky part. I am doing heel lowering exercises (while standing on the edge of a step) which are making my calves stronger and my Achilles has shown some signs of improvement. I think I need to get one of those wobble-boad things that are used for ankle and calf strengthening/rehabilitation. Physios prescribe them. That's about as much as I can offer, but f you want the details on the calf drop exericses drop me an email.
